How to piss off the Diva & some other crap...

Exercise: 50 push ups, 50 leg lifts, 200 crunches, and a 2 mile run. May I just say that I think I prefer 9pm runs over 7am runs when it comes to the weather?

For the last three week we've received a phone call every Saturday morning right around 10am (a time when we are usually still sleeping) from someone calling on behalf of Stew Hansen's Dodge City (the dealer we bought the Stratus from that we no longer own). Basically they are looking to buy good condition used cars from people so they can sell them a new one.

Now the first time these people called, I figured they would get the hint when I hung up on them and not call anymore. Silly me, obviously I was wrong. The second time they called, I told them we no longer owned the car and that we weren't interested. Even that wasn't enough to get them to leave us alone because they called again this past Saturday. That alone had me a bit ticked but it was the conversation I had with the guy that just rubbed me the wrong way. I swear they must seek out people with IQs lower than 60 and completely incapable of taking a hint.

When I first answered the phone, the guy asked for Chi. I asked who was calling and what for because I figured it was some sort of solicitation and I know Chi won't take those kind of calls. That's when the guy goes through his "spcheel". Like the caller the previous week, I tell him we no longer own the Stratus and aren't interested. That wasn't enough to get this guy to go away though. He starts asking what we drive now....um yah like I'm going to give you detailed info about that buddy. Mitsubishi was all he got out of me. Of course that still wasn't enough to get him to go away. He still tries to sell me on this deal. I'm like excuse me, we just bought both of our cars less than a year ago and neither one has more than 5100 miles on it, why would we want to get rid of them? Instead of answering the question, he keeps up with his crap saying, "what if we could show you how you would make a profit?". Ok dipshit, first of all, any dealer who claims the customer is going to make a profit on selling their car back and buying a new one is full of very smelly fecal matter. Second, if we wanted to profit by selling our cars, we could very easily do that without you seeing as they both are half paid for already and one of them holds its value so well it could actually be sold for more than we purchased it for. Ok so I didn't call him dipshit for real but I did call him out on the scam which left him a little speechless. Also let him know that if we ever buy a Dodge or Mitsu again, we will be going back to the dealer we purchased our current cars from because we knew we would get a fair deal and we really liked the salesguy. That was the end of that call and hopefully any future ones from that place. *RE*

Speaking of car stuff....I rolled 5000 on mine Friday evening when I was driving to my parents' house to meet up with them and go to a play my nephew was going to be in. I have to say it was kind of bittersweet although that many miles over 8 months time is pretty good especially when you consider the fact that my Sunfire had at least three times that on it when it was the same age.

Sorry folks no "other news" tonight. Just don't have the time.

Til next time....

A Short Rant

Exercise: 200 crunches, 50 push ups, 50 leg lifts

How could you Mr. Bush?! After all this time of letting piss poor bills through, you decide to finally veto something that could do so much good. You try to make it come off as though you are being all noble by favoring life but it's nothing but a bunch of your usual smoke and mirrors bullshit. You will send thousands overseas and allow them to kill and be killed in a senseless war yet you won't let embryos which are set to be destroyed be used to potentially save lives and reduce suffering of countless numbers of people. I'm sorry Mr. President, I never thought highly of you to begin with but you have now sunk to an all time low! The fact that you can overlook what the majority of the country wants and what the majority of lawmakers have come together to pass only further shows me that you are running that fine line to Hitler many people say you are. Even many of those who have supported you wanted this bill and what do you do? You turn around and slap them right across the face. Yes, you definitely are the self centered, hypocritical, bigot that those of us on the other side of the fence always thought you were. You truly disgust me.

End rant.

A very sad anniversary

Exercise: Errand running.

Well I had a big long post that I was going to write up about all the hoopla concerning Journey and people pitching a ridiculous fit over nothing but then I remembered what today is - the first anniversary of the London bombings. There's just something about events like that which just kind of put things like who's using a backing track or what defines a band as a cover into perspective. It doesn't matter folks.

A lot of the performers out there these days use backing tracks because if they don't, people think they are getting robbed when it comes to the show. They want album quality sound but also want to see the artist hopping all over the stage. I have yet to find anyone that can be that active while they're singing and not be winded. Did Steve Augeri fake a throat infection because of this whole tape issue? Maybe but I'm willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Even if he did, so what? I've seen him perform live and he and the rest of the band put on one hell of a performance. I don't care what anyone says, the guy has some pipes.

Some people think that Journey is nothing but a cover band these days. Oh please. I find it really humorous since two of the five have been there since 1973 and another since 1980. Only the drummer and singer are the "newbies" and well the singer has a voice so close to the one that "made" the band, the average ear would have trouble distinguishing the two. Hell they even have a similar look and share the same first name. Cover band, I think not.

And now for something completely different.....

Please remember all those affected by the Tube bombings and have some more tea. ;)

Busy busy busy

Exercise: None today - I chose to lounge.

So I was supposed to take my mom to KC this past weekend so she could take care of her sister that had a pentuple bypass not too long ago and stay a couple of days but that ended up getting cancelled. My auntie from Phoenix was already there and things were going to be a bit cramped. Besides, my mother has been having trouble with her knee and foot so she wasn't overly sure she wanted to go. She found out that several years ago she broke her foot and didn't know it (Yah, I know I was like, "How on Earth can you walk around on a broken foot and not know it?"). Obviously because she never got treatment, it didn't heal correctly and because of it, she's experiencing Plantar Fasciitis.

Instead of our trip, my mom and I decided to get together for lunch and a movie on Friday afternoon. Around noon we took off for PF Chang's - a great place if you are into Chinese that isn't cheap buffet style. Once we got done, we went over to the theater to see The Lake House. As predictable as the storyline was, I did like it. I've always liked Sandra Bullock and she has good chemistry with Keanu Reeves.

Friday evening Chi and I went over to PIB's house. PIB, Mrs. PIB, Chi, and me all went up to Best Buy so PIB could get a new graphics card. In the end, he didn't get what he went in for but both he and Chi bought a new game to play. *RE* Oh and let me just say that I don't think I will be shopping with those two (PIB and Chi) again anytime soon. They're worse than a couple of three year olds when allowed out together. LOL

I also got to view a couple of other movies over the last few days - Rumor Has It and Nanny McPhee. I really enjoyed both and recommend them.

Last up but not least....The new season of Rockstar has started. Yay! I think. I know since this is only the first show it's a little early on but so far I'm feeling like it's little more than a rehash of the songs done last year and the people doing them aren't as good. That's not to say I don't think any of the performers are any good. There are a few that I thought did quite well - Toby, Patrice, Josh, and Dana but I would have thought they would at least use different music than last year. Oh and there seems to be something different about Tommy Lee. It almost looks as though he's "had work done" or something.

And now for something completely different.....

We're movin on up....A certain someone managed to get another raise which has put said person up another 15% for the year. :) It's amazing that in just over five year's time our income has nearly doubled. Even though today's job market isn't what I would call solid, it's nice to know that we have some security because of the money we can save while still enjoying some of the nicer things in life. Hopefully we can keep going on the path we are on so that in a couple more years, we can look into building a new house.

Other than that bit of news, I don't really have much for this section tonight. I've got some things I would like to address from the My Space political forums I've been hanging out at lately but I don't have them together yet so I will leave them for another day.

Til next time.....
