Wuss kids and some pretty scary shit
Exercise: 30 push ups, 50 leg lifts, 120 crunches
Ok so like just when I think everything is finally settling down from the busy summer schedule and that I will have more time to post BLAM! I get hit with this cold/allergy crap that just kind of left me not wanting to have to tax my brain with trying to come up with something to write. I call it cold/allergy crap because I'm not really sure which of the two it is. It hasn't behaved like a typical cold in which there is at least one day when I wake up feeling as though I have been run over by a truck but it also hasn't really behaved like the typical allergy stint I tend to go through for a couple weeks in the fall in the respect that I've been coughing my head off. I don't know what the hell it is but I will say that my bod has decided to kick its ass. I don't get sick often (I think the sick germs know I hate them and my body will quickly show them the door if they try to come in) and when I do, it's rare if I'm down for a day if that.
Now then - on to the topics covered in the title of this post.....
After hearing a story on the news a few days ago about how a school out East decided to ban the game of tag because of possible injuries which could occur and the observations I have made of the kids in the neighborhood waiting for the bus in the morning, I have come to the conclusion that today's youngins are a bunch of wusses. I mean really. When I was in grade school, I can remember some girl pushing me down a metal slide that sat on blacktop (something you rarely see these days if at all) because she didn't think I was moving fast enough. I ended up going down head first and scraped my lip up. Sure it scared me a bit and it hurt like hell but c'mon, that just came with the territory. When you're a kid, you work is to play hard and injuries are all part of it. These days it almost seems like kids would have to purposely try to get an injury because stuff has become so "idiot proof" or adults have decided to further stifle fun and creativity because they are thinking with a brain living in a much older body that can't take as much punishment as that of a kid.
As for the kids waiting for the bus....There is one kid in particular whose mommy takes him in the car to the bus stop and waits there with him every morning blocking the fucking road the whole time. Now I might be a little more sympathetic if it were freezing cold outside (even though I waited out in weather like that without any problems) or the kid wasn't able bodied but she did this even throughout the summer months and there's nothing wrong with the kid. It's not like we live in a place where someone would be likely to try and kidnap the boy and even if it were an issue of her not wanting him to wait by himself, she could always drive the extra 1/10 of a mile to the stop where several kids wait. Yep, kids today have definitely turned pansy.
With that out of the way, here's the scary shit....
Bush's little law that he signed which basically kills Habeas Corpus and further turns him into that Decider he claims he is. YIKES!
And now for something completely different...
Obama was on Charlie Rose the other night. Unfortunately I couldn't watch it all since the program doesn't come on until 11:30pm but I will say that I like good old Barack more and more every time I hear him talk. Think I may also have to check into reading his book as it sounds like it would be really good.
Speaking of Obama, I heard on the news that he has now made a statement (something to the effect of not being able to promise six years as a senator) which could suggest that he may run for Pres. in 2008. Oh how I hope he does and that he not only gets the nomination but also gets elected. Our country soooo needs someone like him right now.
Well kiddies, I've got other stuff I need to attend to so I'm off for now.
Til next time....

Weekend Review and Some Other "Schtuff"
Exercise: 30 push ups, 50 leg lifts, and 120 crunches
Saturday I made my scheduled trip to Ames that I do every 6 weeks for a haircut. I don't know what the deal was but everyone seemed to be driving stoopid that day - more so than usual. Oddly a lot of them seemed to be driving slower than the limit rather than faster and just not watching at all where they were going. When I got to Ames, I actually saw a blazer that someone had taken window paint to and wrote, "I'm 16!" all over it. YIKES! Ok first of all, it's bad enough have teenagers on the roads these days considering how many of them drive. It's even worse when they start adverting who they are.
I got kind of freaked when I came up behind this guy turning left at an intersection with no light on a busy street. The sitting behind him and waiting wasn't the bad part (although was delaying me enough that I knew I was going to be at least a couple minutes late). It was when he decided to turn. There was this woman on a bike waiting to cross the street this guy and I were on. Just as he turns, she decides in her infanite wisdom to cross the street. I swear the dumb biotch was looking to get herself killed. she's lucky it was me - a cautious and curtious driver she ran out in front of rather than some of the other people out there.
I did end up getting to my appointment a little late (2 minutes I think it was) but it was all good. Mr. Hair was running a bit behind as he typically does. As always, it was a great laugh and once again he outdid himself with the way he styled my hair. I only wish I could get it to look like that when I do it. lol It's funny, most of the time he will tell me how much he loves doing my hair. This past Saturday was no exception. I told him I was glad I could make his day and he said, "You know you really do. You always come here with a smile on your face, a good positive mood, and you don't buy into the drama." LOL I said, "Yah...what can I say, a lot of people are drawn in by its marketability but I've never been one to buy into bullshit." hehe
So when I got done at the old cheveux chop shop, I decided to take a little drive out to the west side of town. I do this every once in a while just to see the changes that have gone on in the town since I went to school there. On my way out that direction, I came up to a stoplight where I was going to turn left. The light had turned yellow as I got over in the turning lane and rather than go on through, I chose to stop as you should if at all possible. Just as I do, this chic in a little red Cavalier comes up behinds me and honks because I didn't go on through and she had to wait at the light along with me. Of course me, being who I am, I politely let her know she was number one in my book *EG*. I didn't stop there though. One the light turned green and I made my turn, I made extra sure to drive 24 in the 25 mph zone. Given her age and how I'm sure she would have treated the situation at the light had it been her who would have had to choose whether to go not, I knew more than likely she was a speeder that wouldn't settle for anything less than 5 mph over the limit. Sure enough she was trailing me and throwing a fit all the way down to where she turned off the road. Yep, I'm a bitch - I will admit but it's not like she didn't have it coming to her. If anything, she should be thankful. I very likely could have saved her an accident that day. LOL
And now for something completely different.....
This week's WTF political moments. Just when you thought things couldn't get more absurd....shit like this comes along.
First up....news reports are now saying that the war in Iraq is promoting more violence and creating more terrorists. Well DUH! Hell, I could have told them that when this all started yet for some crazy ass reason, they decide to wait five years. I mean anyone with an ounce of logic could see that coming. Let's think about this for a minute. Is there actually anyone in the world who would take kindly to their homes and loved ones having the shit bombed out of them to the point where they would say, "Oops my bad! I'm so sorry. Here let me bow down and kiss your feet and do everything you ask."? Give me a break! Common sense will tell you anyone who is threatened is going to fight back - it's basic human nature.
The other night I watched the Iowa gubernatorial debate. Can we get any more low budget? I was really suprised as to how unprofessional it came off. Hell, the debate between Lamberti and Boswell had more class. Not that I'm overly impressed with any of the four people involved in these debates, Boswell and Culver are still a hell of a lot better than their alternatives.
Oh it looks like good old Condi is cooking up lies again concerning 9/11. Then again, I'm not sure the woman actually knows how to say anything true or overly intelligent. She and Rummie both need their walking papers along with the rest of them.
Then we have Foley - YIKES! So much for the republican party of values and morals. Of course if Hastert wasn't enough to make you puke to begin with, his latest blah blah about all of this should be enough to put you over the edge. Yah buddy, I can see how the buck really stops with you - WHATEVER! Oh and the fact that Faux News screwed up by labeling him a democrat only goes to further show how much fact checking they actually do.
And finally.....
Some crazy biotch from Alabama is trying for a second time to get Harry Potter books banned from school libraries. You know, it's no wonder people around the world have the opinion they do of Americans when you have people like Laura Mallory around. This woman believes that these books seek to indoctrinate kids as Wiccans. Oh holy Mary mother of God lady! First of all, you're off your rocker to think such. Second of all, I'd sure like to know how Wicca is any worse than any other religion. If you ask me, from what I know of it, it's probably one of the better ones going.
What is probably the most hysterical bit of this woman's rant is that she thinks these books are to blame for all the violence in schools because they promote violence and then goes on to say stuff like school shootings wouldn't happen if students were to read the bible. I guess someone forgot to point out all the violence in that book (which could also be at least partly a work of fiction) too. No doubt she's one of those bible thumpers who has the good book shoved so far up her ass, she doesn't know how to think straight. I mean c'mon lady...although kids have a lot to learn, any of them who are at the Harry Potter reading level are going to be able to separate fact from fiction/right from wrong. Kids aren't stupid although I can see how you would like to keep them that way. Not to mention, if you really want to do something about violence, why not harp on good old Dubya or the FCC for awhile. I should think the ridiculous war he's waging in Iraq right now along with a lot of the crap you can find on television is going to be more of an influence on the violence our children take in than some Harry Potter book. My guess is you probably haven't even read one of those books and you're just stirring the pot because you have nothing better to do. *RE*
Otay kiddies....that's all from me for now.
Til next time.....
