A Birthday And A Conspiracy Theory
Exercise: None. I took the day off. My allergies have been acting up a little and I had a nasty little headache that just refused to go away.
Saturday I went to my parents' house to meet up with my nephew so he could tell me about his UK trip and show me all his goodies he brought back. He had quite the time there and although he said he would love to live there, he didn't think he could because he would miss his family too much. Awww
The tat he got on his shoulder is pretty cool. Not tiny but not so big it's overpowering. Just a nice sized Union Jack with 2006 above it. He also brought home a lot of "touristy" stuff so I'm sure the shops over there just absolutely loved him. lol
He gave me some of my favorite cookies (McVities digestives - ASDA brand rocks too!). They are oval in shape and taste rather similar to a graham cracker. The chocolate covered ones are good too. :) He also brought me 2 of the candy bars (Time Out) that I would get from time to time when I lived over there and some of the mints I would always buy. On the non-food side of things, he got me a Monty Python knight widget and a small vase manufactured by Poole Pottery (totally cool). What can I say...the kid picks awesome gifts and he really loves his auntie. :)
Saturday was also my sister's 50th birthday so my mom, sis, and I went out to dinner and to see The Da Vinci Code. I have to admit there was a part or two that was a little graphic for my taste and left me feeling as though I was going to yak up a meal I hadn't yet eaten but gore aside, I really enjoyed it. I also have to say that all the people making the stink about the film really are making a mountain out of a mole hill. I'm not going to spoil it for those of you who haven't seen it yet but I just don't think it's worth all the fuss. I also have to say that in many ways, the explanation of Jesus makes a lot more logical sense than what the majority of the hard core "believers" like to preach. And before you start calling me a conspiracy theorist, I do know that this is a work of fiction. My thought is that the idea of Jesus having more human qualities sounds more realistic.
And now for something completely different......
Dubya should once again be ashamed of himself for the gay marriage amendment kick he's on lately not only because of what it would do (and yes, I know it most likely doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of passing) but the reason he is bringing it up. SHAMEFUL!
Well, it seems I had a couple of others things I was going to discuss but I'll be damned if I remember them so I will leave it here for now. We started doing 4 ten hour days at work this week (our summer schedule which is suppose to help save on gas - yah whatever. Certainly isn't saving sanity.) and after one day my brain is fried. Up at 5am, home by 6pm - what do you expect. YIKES! It's no wonder I can't remember the other stuff.
Til next time....
