A call from London and a couple of cars
Exercise: None. It was a cold, windy, gray day today and I just didn't feel inspired. Coming home, curling up in my nice big chair with a blanky and vegging in front of the tv is what today called for. It was good. :)
I'm taking a break from the political garbage for this post to talk about just some "fun" things.
Last night not long after I got home, I received a call from London. My oldest nephew is now just over a week into his UK trip and loving every minute of it. He was telling me about his visit to The Tower Of London which is always a must see for a first time tourist and going to St. Paul's Cathedral. He said he was able to get some killer pics from the top (something I never got to do). I think the most interesting but bizarre thing he mentioned was eating lunch in the crypt of the cathedral. I couldn't help but joke about wanting a side of corpse with his meal. I know...sick humor but what can I say....it runs in the famdamly. :) The last little interesting tidbit I found out was that he's staying at a place not too far from where I lived. According to what he told me, the closest Tube stop to him was only two away from the one I always used. Oh yah....he's also going to try and get me some of my favorite goodies from there that you just can't get here. YAY!
So I was watching Inside Edition this evening and saw two stories that caught my attention. The first one was about a little 6 year girl who's spine was severed by a stray bullet. Not only did she forgive him before the court, her mother did too after he apologized. Now I can't say that I would expect a 6 year old to hold rage against someone for an act like this especially since she was only 3 at the time, but for the mother to not only share her daughter's sentiment but go as far as giving the guy a handshake and a hug was absolutely extraordinary. If only there were more people like this in the world. *sigh*
The second story was about this beast opening up at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Oh how I would love to jump on it for a ride. As some of you may know, I'm a sucker for amusement parks and coasters are my fav. The higher, the faster, the better I say. :) What has me even more enamored with this one is that you are tipped forward so it's like you are flying rather than sitting. It just totally rocks!
And now for something completely different....
I have now actually seen another Eclipse GT on the road. It's black and I kind of wonder if whoever owns it lives in my area since I saw it only a couple of miles from here. The other interesting thing is that I think its owner works down the street from me. In the past I noticed there was this older model black Eclipse parked at one of the businesses down the hill from my building. Well, in the past week that older model has disappeared and a brand new model is there. To whomever it is....you have GREAT taste in cars!
Speaking of cars....
My supervisor's son (the one who bought my Sunfire) came to the office yesterday just before I left to go home. As I was walking to my car, I noticed the Sunfire was sitting there. You could tell that it had been wrecked but it didn't look nearly as bad as I thought it might after what had been described to me. Other than that, it appears that he has been keeping pretty good care of it. I hadn't heard anything about it since the day my boss told me about the accident so I didn't know what ended up happening to it. Obviously the kid kept it and it's still going strong. I'm still amazed at the performance of that car. 9 years old, over 180,000 miles and as far as I know still has yet to have any of its bulbs changed. Who would have thought my little Sunfire would hang on like that. I've gotta say it definitely gives my new car some tough standards to live up to. :)
Otay....that's it for me.
Til next time....
