Let the orgy of greed begin!
Exercise: None today. Had to go to the store and by the time I got back, I had too many other things to do and not enough time.
This has been quite the weekend. Friday night was dinner at my parents' house with them, my sister and her family, and the people my mom is a nanny for (they are a riot and fit right in with us - liberal and a wacky sense of humor. LOL). They're kids who are 5 and 3 are very bright too. The three year old speaks in very clear, complex full sentences that you would expect to come out of a 6 year old and the five year old taught herself to read.
Saturday I trekked to Story City for our family get together at my brother's house before going to my parents' to celebrate Christmas further. Ant chose to stay home since he's not really into the family thing and prefers just to celebrate with me and the furballs on the actual day.
It was funny, the minute I walked in the door and my brother saw my new car, the first words out of his mouth were, "Where's the key?". I told him in my pocket where it will remain for the evening. LOL When I bought my Sunfire, I actually let him take it out for a drive and he came back saying it cornered like it was on rails so I can only imagine what he did with it and what he might do with my current badass car. LOL I mean after the question he asked about the key, he started telling me about topping out the 2001 Chevy Impala my parents gave him when they bought their new one. He told me that it would only do 105. I said I wasn't sure what mine would do before it topped out but it would definitely spank the Impala's butt. LOL After I came home, Chi and I checked it out. The Eclipse is electronically regulated to 140 but if the computer was reset, it could be pushed higher than that.
I really think my brother should have become a stand up comedian rather than a truck driver. He had us all rolling on the floor. Even though we don't see each other very often nor did the three of us really grow up together because of the many years between us, we play really well off each other. The best "skit" he did dealt with this story he made up to use as directions to get somewhere. He was talking about how the "country folk" use landmarks like "that place where old man Wilson had his wreck" so in this story he made up this landmark that was a tire shop (can't remember the name but it had to do with this kid he knew in high school who was a doofus). This shop was a place that had really big tires to fit them really big wheels, them medium sized tires to fit them medium sized wheels, and those little itty bitty tires to fit them little itty bitty wheels. It was just hysterical.
When it got close to the time to leave, my second eldest nephew had yawned and his mom asked him if he was tired - he said, "Yah". I told him he could ride with me (he always has in past years because as a teenager, he doesn't like to be seen in the "older folks cars". LOL) and I'd turn the stereo up really loud to keep him awake. He smirked at my comment and said he had some video game that has an Eclipse in it and ever since he started playing it, he wanted to ride in my car. LOL I told him he would be the first blood relative to have a ride (my mom played like she was miffed when I said that because she had said something about taking a ride in it when I first got it) and he said he would have to feel special then. LOL To make a long story short, the kid was impressed and when he got out, he said he liked how the seats let you "ride low" and wished his mom would have bought one (she was looking at an Eclipse when she got her new car) instead of the SUV she got.
Once everyone got to my parents' house and settled a little bit, we opened gifts. My parents' gave me a doormat that says, "Foul Sewer London England" (it looks like a manhole cover) which I said I may have to tie to Chi's butt (LOL) and some glasses with Tube stops on them. I said that Chi would probably cringe at them but that's ok because I love to watch the goofy faces he makes when they get me stuff like that. LOL True to form, he did it when I showed him the goods. LOL I think the most humorous moment was giving my parents' dog Sadie her gift of a pig's ear. I had wrapped it up just to see what she would do. Sure enough, she tore into it like there was no tomorrow. LOL
On Sunday Chi and I celebrated Christmas at home with the furballs and we opened the gifts from his family - I got a bottle of perfume, the new Chelsea football jersey, a hat and scarf, and a Floorfillers CD. Chi got a coat, a shirt, and a Pete Tong CD. Chi also opened the gift from my parents. It was a turkey fryer - something he's been yakking about wanting for months now. You should have seen him the minute he got it open. He was just like a little kid who got the best toy on Earth. The downside was that I had to hear him whine about not having a turkey to cook (something we went hunting for at the store today). LOL His present from me is ordering the Evo (there was also a little VS tidbit for him too since the Evo won't be here for a few months). More than likely the order won't actually be placed until mid to late next month because we don't want to take delivery until late March or early April, but at this point the decision has been made that we will be buying one. As for me, Chi gave me a couple of nice sweaters - a white one for work from Banana Republic and a pink hooded casual one from Pac Sun.
At this point, you may be asking what about the furballs? Didn't they get any gifts? No, actually they didn't. Not because they had been naughty or Santa didn't think they deserved anything. It's because they turn their noses up at treats and they have just about every toy that a kitty could want so anything Santa could have brought would have been overkill. Instead we decided we would treat them to as much turkey as they want when it's fried because we know they love that. :)
Well kiddies, it's getting late and I need to get to bed so I can be up in the morning. I'm going to go visit TBB tomorrow for our little Christmas get together.
Til next time....
