A Sad Day For London And The Rest Of The World
Exercise: 100 push ups, 120 crunches, 50 leg lifts
I was (and still am) horribly saddened about the bombings in London today. The events that unfolded especially hit home with me not only because my in laws who I love dearly are in England but because three of the places bombed are ones I had been to a few times when I lived in London and one of those three, a place I have visited a couple times since.
I also found myself thinking a lot about the time I was riding to work on the Tube and we were stopped in a tunnel because of a bomb threat at the next station. In many ways it was strange because no one on the train (even me) seemed to think that much of it - at least not if you looked at the expressions on their faces. We were all looking at our watches to see how late we were going to be getting to work rather than planning what we might do to get out of there should there be a need to. The thing is, these threats were very common place and had never been carried through to the point of killing people like today's bombings did. They had been made by the IRA and with them it was like there were "rules" - they would look to inconvenience but never really harm I guess you could say. These recent events really put things into perspective especially since from the reports I have been hearing, Al Qaeda has been staking the Tube out since the early 90s - a time before I was living over there.
What really pissed me off is hearing Dubya's little speech about not yeilding to the terrorists and finding them to bring them to justice - WHAT AN EFFIN CROCK! Given the efforts (or lack thereof) he has put into finding Bin Laden and taking his bunch down since 9/11, something tells me that "hunt" won't be very successful.
There are a few other things I was going to write about today but with all that has happened, I'm going to leave things here.
Til next time.....
