A whole lot of arm twisting going on
Exercise: None - damn storms! This one seems to be nothing but wind so far and not even as strong as they keep blabbing about on tv.
This was supposed to be Sunday's post but I was so wiped out from the weekend, I ended up napping and getting behind with the laundry so I had to put it off until tonight.
Anyway......
Saturday there was a concert held at a park close to downtown called Waterstock Rock. I wasn't all that interested in any of the bands who were going to perform except one and that one only had one original member so I wasn't overly excited about it. Steph wanted me to go but I just didn't really want to spend the money for the ticket to go to something I didn't think I would care much for.
Well, it would seem that her and Brett decided to tag team me with begging and pleading Friday night and Saturday morning in the hopes they could get me to go. Somehow it worked - probably because Brett was able to get me a cheap ticket. Thanks! You're a star. ;) Anyway, it turned out to be pretty good except for the part where these guys right next to me started moshing/fighting and I began to panic a little bit about getting trampled to death. Oh yah, getting half a bottle of beer spilled down my side wasn't very fun either but at least the acts we saw were decent and the band I went to see (Foreigner) more than made up for it all. We got to meet a lot of the guys in the various bands and it was an all round good time. If you want to read a really good review, go to The Boyfriend's blog. For pictures, see Steph's blog.
Sunday I went to my parents house to celebrate father's day. It seems the lotto luck that my dad has whenever I buy him tickets worked again. I got him one of the new instant games they have out now called Quarter Play. It costs $20, plays like a slot machine (three randomly generated numbers at a time), and you get 80 turns at it hence the name Quarter Play - each one is worth $.25. Anyone who buys one of these games is guaranteed to win at least $3 but you can win as much as $500. My dad started playing his and had his $3 win racked up fairly quickly. He then got $20 and still had over half his plays left. When he got another point, I figured the card must be a winner up to at least the next level ($40) because it would be kind of silly to have the points come out on one side or the other of a prize level. He made the $40 win and scored yet more points - I couldn't believe it! In the end, he won $60. (Yes I know Denny....I need to buy one and send it to you...LOL) Now had I purchased that card for myself, I probably wouldn't have gotten more than $3 out of it. I mean I bought a Powerball ticket for me when I got his ticket and I didn't even get one number - BASTARD! At least the dog showed me some love. LOL
I got kind of a chuckle today at work. Normally I freeze my butt off there nearly everyday if I don't wear a sweater. Yah imagine that wearing a sweater to work in the middle of summer when it is 90 degrees outside! I guess when the office was remodeled, there were thermostats put in every business manager's "hole" so they would be able to control the temperature in their own little spaces. For some reason, they no longer work (from what I understand they were locked). The manager I work most closely with has an office that is now so cold, he's put all kinds of tape over the vent in order to block the air blowing down on him. LOL I always tease him and call him a puss but honestly, his office is like the Arctic and I can't blame him for doing what he did. This afternoon he came around to my desk and asked if he could wear the extra sweater I always keep in my cube. My friend and I were laughing our asses off as we never though we would see him resort to wearing a Mr. Rogers type sweater (especially in the summer) let alone come begging to one of us for one of them. I told him to knock himself out and he actually wore it for most of the day. LOL
How interesting....earlier when the "storm" started (still haven't seen any rain - not even that cloudy out now) we had some fairly high winds (enough to stir the dust in the fields up and make visibility really low) coming out of the north. It seems they have now shifted and are coming out of the southeast. There is one thing I would like to know though....Who on Earth left the "genius" at the pool just across the field from us in charge? You could see this thing coming for quite some time and what does he do, he doesn't get on the loudspeaker to get everyone out until the stupid "storm" was right on top of us. Way to go Mr. Common Sense - DUH!
Til next time.....
