Something Wicked This Way Comes.....
Exercise: None - The sky was looking like rain again and I got a call from a friend I haven't heard from in quite some time - it was worth a night off. :)
About 20 to 8 this morning I was standing at one of the 5 POS copiers at work. You would think with that many of them in such a small office, we wouldn't have the issues we do. Then again, electronic gadget intelligence isn't exactly at an all time high where I work. Oh well, that's another story for a different day - back to the main tale....
There I was at the copier. I happened to look out the window which faces north and noticed the sky getting dark. My thought at this site - Cool! Looks like we'll be getting one of those isolated thunderstorms. Oh shit! Not cool! I forgot to unplug my laptop before I left for work. Please in the name of all kick ass storms don't let this one throw a bolt that spikes the electric at my house cuz I don't want to have to fork over $2000 for a replacement.
I left the copier and about 5 minutes later had to go back to make some more copies. I looked out the window again and that "black" sky that was off in the distance was now getting darker and nearly on top of us all in just a few minutes time. When I got back to my desk, I had a look online at one of the local tv stations' radar to see what we were in for. ISOLATED STORMS MY ASS!!! Maybe if you are thinking in terms of the whole US! The "pretty" colors ranging from green & blue to red, yellow, and purple stretched clear across the farking state! I went back to have a look out the window again and what I saw looked like it was spawned from Satan himself. Big black clouds growing & shifting at an unbelievable rate.
DAYUM!
Shortly after that the wind picked up and when I say "picked up", I mean it REALLY picked up. In the eight years I have worked for my current employer, I have NEVER heard the wind whip across the building as it did today. I swear it sounded like the roof was going to rip right off the dump! I guess it was enough to break a tree off at its base and throw it on a car next door. OUCH!
By the end of the work day, the sun was shining again. It was kinda strange though because I noticed when I looked out the window again after it had quit storming, the clouds were actually moving in the opposite direction. I wondered if we were going to get pounded again (this often occurs with summer storms - blows through one way then turns around to get us again) but we didn't.
Well, that's all from here today. I'm watching a show on Discovery called Tokyo's Sky City which is very fascinating - it's about a tower they want to build which is over 3000 feet tall.
Til next time....
