The Lotto Father Daughter Bond
Exercise: None - it's my day of rest.
This weekend has been another of go go go. I've only just now gotten a minute where I could sit down and write this.
Friday I went to work until noon and then went to my parents' house. My auntie who lives in AZ was visiting and wanted to see all of us before she and my uncle went back. My mom asked me to stay for dinner so I ended up not getting home until about 9pm. That's alright though. It's not like I get to see them everyday even though we only live about 30 miles apart.
On Saturday morning I got a call from The Boyfriend about 10 or so asking if I wanted to go to Adventureland (the local amusement park that I worked at when I was in high school and college) with him, his roommates, and his daughters. Unfortunately, I had already made plans with my dad so I couldn't go. He had also offered me a ticket to a cubs game for today but I ended up having to turn that down too because I wasn't able to get all the things done I needed to do yesterday. :(
Around 11am my mom and dad showed up. My dad built a platform bed for us that I designed and he came over to finish putting the last few pieces of trim on it. When he walked in the door, he handed me one of the Quarter Play instant lotto tickets like the one I bought for him. Now that wasn't something I was expecting. I kinda think he did it because he won as much as he did off the ticket I gave him and thought it would only be right to give something back. My daddy is soooo kind. :) Here's the kicker about it all.....I played the ticket out and I too won $60! I swear my dad and I have this weird bond through the lotto or something. We hardly win crap if we buy tickets for ourselves but if we buy tickets and give them to each other, they tend to yield some decent cash. Based on the one I gave to my friend/co-worker for her birthday, it seems to only work if the exchange is between me and him too. LOL I had to laugh because when he left he said something about bringing him half the winnings next time I saw him. I then asked him if he would be forking over half his winnings too. That's when he said we should just call it even. LOL
After my parents left, Ant and I went out grocery shopping and then I came home so I could get ready to go to the movies with my mom. We saw The Perfect Man. We both thought it was a pretty good movie and the kid that plays Hillary Duff's love interest is quite cute.
Today was spent doing all the "fun stuff" - paying bills, cleaning, and doing laundry. At least when I got done paying the bills, I found out there was a lot more money left over than I was expecting. That's always a nice thing. :) The real downside to the day was that I had a headache from hell. More than likely it was caused by the heat and just being exhausted. It's sorta gone away now but I can still feel it lingering a little bit.
I hear some chocolate frozen yogurt calling me so I think I will go get some and watch Whose Line Is It Anyway (I absolutely LOVE that show).
Til next time...
