Opening Night - The Foreigner
Last night I came home from work briefly before taking off to my parents' house. After I got there, we sat and talked and I played with the dog for about fifteen minutes then left to go into town for my nephew's play. As we were walking from the parking lot, my sister and my other nephew pulled in so we stopped to wait for them. When they caught up to us, we continued on into the church where it was being held. My mom and dad decided to pay for all of us so we were all standing around the table waiting for the woman to add up how much we owed her. She asked my younger nephew's age and if he was still a student which he is since he's only 15. Next, she turned and looked at me quizzically. She said, "how about you?". I told her I was 31 and she just about fell off her chair. She thought I was a high school student too. LMFAO! My dad said jokingly that I was supposed to say that I was 13 not 31. LOL I think that helped to put the woman at ease a little bit because she started laughing too. It's rare when people don't think I look younger than I am but it has been a few years since someone has thought I was THAT young. Typically, I get confused for someone between the ages of 18 and 23.
The play itself was good and very funny although the accent one of the actors had was slaughtered. LOL I also noticed that there were a couple of places where the humor almost got the best of my nephew because you could see him sort of crack a smile then bite his lip but he made it through like a trooper. The costume worked really well but unfortunately I wasn't able to get any pictures of it. There were too many people sitting in front of me and there really wasn't any way for me to move around to some place else where I could have gotten a good shot. If nothing else, maybe I can get a picture after he is done with the play. If I do, I will post it when I get it. I do have a scan of the program though. They were even nice enough to give me props as one of the people in charge of costumes which I thought was kinda cool.

After the play was over, the cast came out and met with everyone. They were all really nice and expressed their thanks for the work I did on Justin's costume. I also ended up in a sorta awkward situation. A woman had attended who looked familiar but I couldn't quite place her. I guess she is one of Justin's co-workers. My mom knew who she was and I didn't catch her last name when the introductions were being made. It turns out she is the mother of a guy I was buddies with in elementary school. When she mentioned his name, I then realized why she looked like someone I should know. It's so sad....both of her children (the one I went to school with and her daughter who was younger) died in a car wreck quite a few years ago (I think they were coming home from college). Even after all the time that has past, you can still see the sadness in her eyes as though it was just yesterday when it happened.
Well kiddies it's time for me to be off. I need to go email someone and give him a piece of my mind.
Til next time.....
