Yay! The snow is going away!
Today we got close to 50F if we didn't actually hit it (last I knew we were sitting at 46F). That big evil snow pile sitting out in our side yard making things a total bitch to exit the drive has started to noticeably shrink - FINALLY!!! Of course the downside is all the water it leaves in it's wake. Normally, I don't hate water so much (I am a swimmer afterall) but I do when it messes up my clean black car (any of you who own a car this color can understand the issues here) and keeps me from doing the things I really want to do like street skating and running.
Before the weather went to total shit around this dump, I had been spending my evenings out on my rollerblades "terrorizing the town" on my "off" nights from running. I used to go to the rink for adult night on Thursdays but the music there just started to wear on me. I swear the kid playing it thought we were half dead or something. It's not that I didn't like the songs themselves, I just didn't like them to skate to. My thought is if you are going to skate to stuff, it should have a good beat (dance music or Motley Crue's Kickstart My Heart for speed skating) but what do they play? Stuff that I could fall asleep to. I'll just take my little Sony MP3 player with hours upon hours of music I like and hit the streets thanks. Of course with all the water out there, that won't be happening for awhile. :(
I thought maybe I would at least be able to squeeze out a run tonight but did that happen? NOOOOOOOOOOO thanks to Lake Bridgewood just down the street. I'm not a puss to run in drizzle (did that a lot when I lived in London and actually liked it) but when it comes to navigating a puddle the size of the Atlantic which is in the middle of the street - forget it! Oh and of course the sidewalks aren't any better. They never did come around to shovel those properly so if there wasn't a puddle on them, there was a pile of snow - LOVELY NOT!
The rest of the week it's supposed to be colder so maybe that will kind of freeze things up a little bit and I can finally get out for a run at least. Then again, by the time the road conditions are acceptable, the stupid weather will be back to throwing its wintry mix at us. Curses to the bastard weather God!
