A hair short of what I really wanted:
This morning I made my fifty minute trek to Ames so I could get my usual six week haircut. I know it is sort of a long drive just for a haircut (I've even caught flack from some because I pay $65 for it), but it is worth it. I love the guy. He's funnier than hell, tells me a lot of NYC tales because he is originally from there and goes back often, and he hits the mark when it comes to what I want done every time although I today was sort of an exception. We were looking at a picture in a magazine that was exactly how I wanted but when he styled my hair, it looked nothing like it. It was ok, but I wasn't sure if I liked it. The moment I stepped outside, the wind blew the hairspray out but that ended up being a good thing. I actually liked the result. LOL I also found out once I got home and restyled my hair that I was able to make it look close to what that picture looked like. It seems he cut it correctly, just styled it differently. :)
I stopped at Sam's Club and WalMart on the way home to do the grocery shopping but when I got there, there was some sort of shindig taking place in the parking lot that was put on by a local fire department meaning not a parking spot in sight. Nope no way am I braving that - shopping will be waiting until later!
Later happened about 7pm. Not usually a good time for WalMart because it is so busy but I didn't have a choice, Sam's closes at 8:30pm. Actually, I was surprised how busy Sam's was. You would have thought everyone saw the cooler weather as a sign of a blizzard or something the way the place was crawling with people.
WalMart was much the same as Sam's only with many more interesting characters. The one that we shop at isn't in a bad neighborhood, however, I feel it is sort of crappy compared to others I have been to. I call it the Ghetto WalMart. LOL
Last week when we went, there was this guy that had a wadded up coat and stuck it down on a low shelf where the tuna was. Now that was very peculiar. Made me wonder if there was some kind of wack drug deal going down like you see in the movies and stuff. I said something to Ant and after thinking about it for a moment, he agreed. LOL I don't remember hearing any news stories to confirm this so I think my mind was running away with me but you never know. LOL
Today we saw a group of young people that were very curious. Three of them had bandanas on and the fourth a kind of cowboy hat. What was strange was the guy with the hat was carrying dowel rods and some cloth - not exactly the sort of thing you would expect to see someone walking around with in the manner he was.
At the checkout, we ran into another curious character - the checker himself. He was very chatty and most of what he said was just a bunch of rambling. When I first looked at him, I thought he just had an odd nose but when I looked again, I realized he had managed to wipe blue ink on himself. I had to look away to keep from giggling.
Oh the people you run into when shopping at Wally World!
